The 411. Pr@y for Dan.

Some developments to share about us.

On me, I have been helping to open a new center for children with Autism. From brainstorm sessions to naming the center, all the way to designing the classrooms. Now, the center has been open for almost a month! I am helping to train the local staff in how to teach children with Autism. Most of the staff do not have any formal teacher education, nor do they have experience with special needs children. But, they do have a BIG heart for our Father and they believe this center is what He has been calling them to. So, please pr@y for the staff and myself through this period of learning, along with lots of trial and error.

Twice a week, I have been working with an adopted four year old, Chinese, child with her speech. It has been an honor to be able to help this foreign, English-speaking family. They have been here for a number of years helping other kids just like their precious (ad-pted) daughter. It is a joy to she her in the week. She is making progress, which has made me realize I actually like speech therapy. Thinking of pursuing further education in this area, as it is a huge need here. Please be lifting up this spunky girl, and her amazing family.

Onto Dan, He has been swamped. He is one of the busiest doctors around here. Even as I write this blog he is corresponding with patients via phone chats. Like if Kingston were to call and make an appointment to see him, for a well-child check, the next available slot would be in mid October (more than a month from now!). To be honest, I can see the stress on him. In just a few days he will become the official director of the international clinic. It's probably the only international clinic, staffed by American doctors, associated with a major provincial hospital, in all of SW China. For the past few months he has begun the process of transitioning into this new role, and there have been lots of surprises. Like today, he was called in by the city mayor to be interviewed on local media. Lots of opportunities, lots of connections made, lots of people being cared for, and lots of blessings. But he needs your intercession, he is physically worn out! Also asking for wisdom, as we both feel something must change, schedule-wise, for our family, but we are not sure what we could change or how we could change. Both him and I are getting busier and busier...and we don't want to lose focus. We don't want to only see ministry as "work". It also includes relationships, family, friends, and quality time with Him!

BY THE WAY, RANDOM PICTURE OF KINGSTON AND FIONA AT THEIR LOCAL PRESCHOOL. THEY ARE MAKING LOTS OF FRIENDS :)
