Lui Family Update

So much has been going on, but we’ve continued to be showered by His love and grace.

Since recently taking on the international clinic director position, Dan’s been busy dealing with lots of surprise and complicated patient and office issues. We can’t go into much detail now, but the issues could mean some changes in the near or distant future. At this time, we really need Father's wisdom.

As for me, I have had the pleasure of continuing Speech Therapy, while the Autism center staff traveled to Singapore for teacher training. My hope has been that this training is eye-opening for them and really changes the staff’s perceptions on what is possible for children with Autism. During this short break from teaching, I realized more and more that I just love “creating things” and being creative especially in the speech therapy setting. It actually makes rethink my reasons for choosing Early Childhood Education over Speech Language Pathology for my Master’s degree. Truthfully, it could just be that I get to speak English during my Speech Therapy sessions, which is much easier for me than training local Autism center teachers in Chinese!

Looking back, I have a few special moments to share. Today, Kingston blessed many brothers and sisters (in Him) with his open heart. At a House fellowship retreat, Kingston decided to sing “I Love You, Lord” on the spot, an old worship song, with a few other adults. One morning a few weeks ago, Dan and Grandpapa Joe, came together to serve the poor and marginalized people using eastern and western medicine. Joining them on this fine day of service was Fiona, who played the perfect nurse, leading patients from waiting room to clinic room, pretending to take very official documentation of patient vitals, and mostly importantly she gave people a warm and welcoming feeling. In a more intimate setting, Fiona gave comfort to a mother mourning the loss of her child, by hugging and holding onto her as her tears fell.

More and more, we realize how blessed we are to have family on the same continent. Dan’s parents have visited us twice this year and have gifted us with a trip to Hong Kong over this National Holiday break. A much needed time away and hopefully a time of renewal. Thanks to all those that continue to life us up and encourage us to keep moving forward!
